Christine Wisnom, CDA, RN, BSN OSHA Update 2008 This course will present an OSHA review including the “Needle Stick Safety Prevention Act” and newly emerging diseases. Viral Hepatitis A-G with emphasis on Hepatitis C, the primary blood borne pathogen in the United States today will be presented. Infection control techniques designed to reduce occupational exposure to these air borne and blood borne pathogens, including the new “CDC Infection Control for Dentistry” and “Post Exposure Prophylaxis for Occupational Exposure” will be included. This program will satisfy the 2 hour, biannual infection control requirement for license renewal and partially satisfy the annual requirement for OSHA training.
Richard L. Wynn, PHD Pharmacology Update The important drug issues discussed will be aspirin/Plavix patient; bisphosphonates and necrotic jaw bones; C-reactive protein, statin drugs, periodontal disease and increased risk of heart attacks; herbal remedies that affect blood clotting; new drugs for sedation and neuropathic pain.
